Winnipeg-based IGM Financial Inc. announced on Thursday that Rhonda Goldberg, most recently director of the investment funds and structured products branch at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), is joining the firm as vice president of regulatory affairs.

During Goldberg’s time with the OSC, she also served as acting director for the regulator’s Office of Investor Policy, Education and Outreach, at which she helped lead the integration of that office with the OSC’s Investor Education Fund to expand the OSC’s investor protection capabilities.

“Ms. Goldberg has built a successful career with a strong reputation for regulatory advocacy across Canada,” IGM’s announcement states. “Respected throughout the financial services profession, Ms. Goldberg’s insight and hands-on guidance will be a tremendous asset for IGM Financial, its advisors and clients.”

In Goldberg’s role at IGM, she will work proactively with regulators and other stakeholder groups; she will also provide regulatory guidance to the firm’s product, distribution and client services operations partners for the development of new investment products.

Goldberg will begin in the new role on Sept. 15. She will work out of the Toronto offices of Mackenzie Financial Corp., a division of IGM.
