PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP has appointed Lana Paton to the role of national tax leader.

Paton is a veteran with the Toronto-based accounting firm known as PwC Canada, with more than 20 years of experience in various positions in the firm’s tax practice. She was previously the energy, utilities, mining and industrial products leader for the firm and is experienced in areas such as cross-border tax planning, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, provincial mining taxes and levies, and dealing with taxation authorities in all levels of government.

“Lana has a proven track record for delivering value to clients in helping them become more successful. Her focus on solving important client problems is invaluable in today’s changing world as governments and technology disrupt the status quo,” says Bill McFarland, CEO and senior partner with PwC Canada, in a statement. “Her commitment to teamwork and developing and bringing new talent into the firm will be key ingredients for our future success.”

Paton starts in the new position on Sept. 1.
