BMO GAM’s Ross Kappele elected IFIC chairman

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) unveiled the latest edition of its Securities Proceedings Advisory Committee (SPAC), which includes five new members, on Tuesday.

The new committee members, who replace members whose terms expired this month, join seven other Bay Street lawyers who are still serving on the SPAC along with three members of the OSC’s enforcement branch and three members of the OSC’s Office of the Secretary, including Grace Knakowski, the secretary to the OSC who also chairs the SPAC. Committee members serve staggered, three-year terms.

The newcomers include Andrea Burke from Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP; Andrew Gray of Torys LLP; Jessica Kimmel with Goodmans LLP; Shara Roy of Lenczner Slaght LLP; and Gowling WLG’s Usman Sheikh

The SPAC, which is an advisory committee to the OSC’s Office of the Secretary, provides input on policy and procedural initiatives involving proceedings before the commission’s administrative tribunal.
