The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) announced Thursday that Dialogue 2016, the OSC’s annual conference, will focus on tech-driven disruption in the financial sector and what this may mean for the industry, investors and regulators.

“Disruption in payments, products, distribution and consumer behaviour is impacting investors while also creating opportunities to improve fairness, efficiency and growth in the market,” says Maureen Jensen, OSC chairwoman and CEO, in a statement.

The preliminary list of conference speakers includes: Blythe Masters, CEO, Digital Asset Holdings; David Rutter, CEO, R3; Randy Cass, CEO, Nest Wealth; Mary Jo White, CEO, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Rick Ketchum, chairman and CEO; Financial Industry Regulatory Authority; Christine Duhaime, executive director, Digital Finance Institute; Anthony Di Iorio, chief digital officer,TMX Group; Adam Nanjee, head of financial technology, MaRS; and John Ruffolo, CEO, OMERS Ventures.

“We look forward to bringing together thought leaders in digital finance and the capital markets to advance the dialogue in this important area and ensure regulation remains current,” Jensen adds.

The conference is slated for Nov. 2 in Toronto.

Registration for the event will open in September, and more speakers will be announced by the OSC in the coming weeks.
