The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is adding a former investment advisor, and a former industry executive, to its independent Investor Advisory Panel (IAP).

The OSC announced today that two new members have been selected for the IAP: Louise Tardif, a retired advisor from National Bank Financial; and, former industry executive, Aletta (Letty) Dewar, who started in the industry back in 1984, and was chief operations officer for the Signature Global Advisors Group at CI Investments Inc. at the time of her semi-retirement in 2008.

“Both new members have extensive experience with securities regulatory requirements and have advocated for investors throughout their careers,” said Mary Condon, commissioner at the OSC.

The OSC also announced that Alan Goldhar has decided not to continue on the IAP. The panel continues to be chaired by former regulator, Connie Craddock; and, along with the two new appointees, also includes Jane Ambachtsheer, Harold Geller, Ken Kivenko, Alison Knight and Ursula Menke.

The IAP comments on regulatory proposals from the OSC and its annual statement of priorities. It can also bring forward policy issues for consideration, and advises the commission on the effectiveness of its investor protection initiatives.

“The panel has become an important voice for investors in the regulatory process and the new members have been selected to ensure that the panel continues to represent a broad range of relevant experience, skills, knowledge and perspectives,” said Condon.
