Advisors with a socially conscious clientele can now check out the environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards of thousands of publically traded global companies through a new web-based ratings system.

S-Network Global Indexes Inc., a data consulting firm and indices developer, and Thomson Reuters (both headquartered in New York) launched Thomson Reuters Corporate Responsibility ESG Portal on Wednesday. The database rates more than 4,600 public companies worldwide on their ESG standards and covers over US$47 million in global market cap.

Ratings are calculated through the Thomson Reuters Asset4 data using information from over 500 individual data points and more than 200 key performance indicators (KPI), including carbon emissions, water usage, workplace safety, compensation policy and disclosure practice. The ESG rankings can be viewed via Thomson Reuters.

Data points from the ratings are also used to construct the Thomson Reuters Corporate Responsibility Indices, which shows investors the performance of U.S. and global markets and the ESG ratings of investments held in their portfolio.

Annual membership to the portal costs US$600 per year or US$60 per month for a recurring monthly membership.
