Institutional money manager Neuberger Berman Group LLC Thursday announced its expansion in Canada with the appointment of Sarah Butcher as vice president responsible for investment consultant relationships and institutional investors.

Her appointment is effective immediately.

Butcher’s position is newly created. She is based in Neuberger Berman’s Toronto office and reports to Clay Khan, senior vice president, who is responsible for institutional client service in Canada.

Butcher most recently served for five years as a director of Canadian institutional client business at BlackRock, Inc. Earlier, she worked as a consultant at Mercer Investment Consulting in Toronto and as a fixed income analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York. She is a finance graduate of the University of British Columbia and holds an MBA from York University.

Since opening its office in Toronto in 2012 to serve Canadian investors, Neuberger Berman has grown its Canada business to approximately $1.3 billion, investing in equities, fixed income, and alternatives strategies for Canadian pension funds and endowments.
