Louis Vachon, president and CEO of National Bank of Canada, has been named Financial Personality of the Year in Finance et Investissement‘s annual Top 25 ranking of Quebec’s financial sector.

A jury of industry personalities and observers awarded the title to Vachon at a gala at Saint James’s Club in Montreal on Tuesday night. This is the second time in three years that he has been honored at the event.

The award recognizes Vachon’s success implementing an ambitious business plan in 2014. Not only did National Bank (TSX:NA) post a record-breaking 14% jump in profits over 2013, but the value of the bank’s common shares has tripled since 2009, reaching $100 in August 2014 (taking into account a share split in 2014). A growing clientele and employee engagement have been key factors in the bank’s success.

Other members of the financial community ranked in the Top 25 of Quebec’s financial industry for 2014 include André R. Chabot of Triasima Portfolio Management, Monique Gravel of CIBC Wood Gundy, Isabelle Hudon of Sun Life Financial Canada, and Sylvain Brosseau and Jean-Guy Desjardins of Fiera Capital.

Two Quebec advisors honoured

Finance et Investissement also acknowledged the outstanding work and commitment of two advisors who are active in the Quebec financial industry.

Anik Armand of Desjardins Securities and An-Lap Vo- Dignard of Groupe VPP, affiliated with National Bank Financial, have been named Advisor Emeritus and Advisor Most Involved in his Community, respectively.

Anik Armand, Advisor Emeritus for 2014, won over the jury with a rigorous business plan focusing on customer service that enabled her to grow her assets under management from $60 million in 2007 to nearly $420 million today. She and her team closely follow a procedural and ethical model aimed at meeting the needs of the affluent families they serve.

An-Lap Vo-Dignard was named Advisor Most Involved in his Community thanks to his regular, ongoing contribution to a number of organizations including Fondation Bruny Surin, the Quebec Society for Disabled Children, Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and Fondation HEC Montréal.
