Four asset management companies were honoured with group awards at the 2017 Lipper Fund Awards in Toronto on Wednesday night.

The awards recognize mutual funds and ETFs that have excelled in delivering consistently strong risk-adjusted performance relative to their peers. In addition, the program recognizes fund families with high average scores for all funds within a particular asset class or overall.

Calgary-based Canoe Financial LP was named best bond mutual fund group and best overall mutual fund group in Canada. Canoe received two awards for various individual mutual funds.

Calgary-based Mawer Investment Management Ltd. was named best equity mutual fund group and best mixed assets mutual fund group. In addition, Mawer received seven awards for various individual mutual funds.

RBC Global Asset Management Inc. (RBC GAM) and Invesco Canada Ltd., both based in Toronto, each received eight awards for various mutual funds, making them the top individual mutual fund award winners.

RBC GAM was also named best bond ETF group, while Invesco Canada was named best equity ETF group.

Toronto-based BMO Asset Management received seven awards for various ETFs, which made them the top individual ETF award winner.

The Lipper Awards arepart of the Thomson Reuters Awards for Excellence, a global family of awards that celebrate exceptional performance throughout the professional investment community.
