Leaders of Canada’s alternative investment industry and broader financial community will be gathering on Tuesday, November 4 for the 11th annual Open Your Hearts to the Children Gala – a special fundraising evening organized by Hedge Funds Care / Help for Children Canada.

The event will be held at Toronto’s Spoke Club.

All proceeds raised from the gala will go to support local and national charities that support the prevention and treatment of child abuse. To date, Hedge Funds Care Canada has raised more than $1.5 million in support of this worthwhile cause.

The group was established in 2004 as a way for the Canadian hedge fund community to give back to organizations that provide prevention services to children and families who are at risk of abuse and/or neglect, and treatment to children who have been victims of abuse.

“We have been very gratified with the generous support of the investment community, which has fueled the growth of this important initiative,” noted Corey Goldman, Hedge Funds Care Canada president and director. “It’s a remarkable testament to the generosity of those in the Canadian financial services community, the alternative investment industry in particular, to the prevention of child abuse.”

Sara Yarmand of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board who, along with Michelle Peng of Front Street Capital and Laura Reid of KPMG is serving as co-Chair of this year’s event, said: “The Canadian hedge fund and broader investment management industry’s response to the Gala and the cause it supports has once again been fantastic.

“Our efforts would not be possible without the incredible support and generosity of our sponsors, including lead sponsor Sprott Asset Management as well as Arrow Capital Management, CIBC, Citco Canada, Deloitte Canada, Picton Mahoney Asset Management, Polar Securities, Scotia Capital, TD Securities, and many others.”
