Lévis, Que.-based Desjardins Group on Friday announced the appointment of Gregory Chrispin to the position of executive vice president of wealth management and life and health insurance.

He will also assume the role of president and chief operating officer of Desjardins Financial Security.

Chrispin joined Desjardins in 2010 and until now had been vice president of investments in charge of all Desjardins Global Asset Management’s activities. Under his leadership, this sector has experienced significant growth and today boasts some $80 billion in assets under management, Desjardins says in a news release.

“Mr. Chrispin’s new mandate will be to oversee the development of products and solutions geared to the specialized savings and life and health insurance needs of our members and clients. He will also support the integrated distribution of these products in the caisse network and other networks,” adds Denis Berthiaume, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer. “The wealth management and life and health insurance sector plays a key role in growing Desjardins’s market share across the country.”

Chrispin has some 30 of experience in the financial services sector to his credit, Desjardins says. An associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the CFA Institute, Chrispin sits on several committees of not-for-profit organizations established in Montreal.
