CI makes portfolio management changes

Greg Thompson, former executive vice president and managing director with Montreal-based National Bank Financial Ltd. (NBF), has joined Toronto-based Focus Asset Management Ltd. as a senior member, the firm announced.

Thompson will play an active role in the investment process at Focus, as well as help serve clients and contribute to the firm’s strategy and development.

Thompson has 32 years of experience in the financial service sector and has held roles as head of global equities, in addition to investment banking, during his tenure with NBF. Previously, he founded Toronto-based Wellington West Capital Markets Inc., which NBF acquired in 2011.

Thompson’s background also includes roles as a senior member of the global equities research team at New York-based Morgan Stanley and a portfolio manager with Mississauga, Ont.-based Lincluden Investment Management Ltd.

“I have known Greg for 20 years and have always respected his investing skills and passion as well as his single-minded focus on delivering excellent client service,” says Ted Conrad, president of Focus, in a statement. “Greg is a perfect fit for Focus.”
