Toronto-based FT Portfolios Canada Co. (a.k.a. First Trust Canada) plans to broaden its family of Canadian domiciled exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to 16 with the addition of nine fundamentally weighted U.S. sector ETFs.

Each ETF will focus on a specific U.S. industry sector tracking the StrataQuant Indices which employ First Trust’s proprietary AlphaDEX methodology to stocks in the Russell 1000 Index.

First Trust expects to list the nine ETFs on the Toronto Stock Exchange subject to meeting all regulatory and TSX requirements. Initially the funds will offer hedged units and will hedge U.S. dollar currency exposure back to the Canadian dollar.

The nine new ETFs will have a management fee of up to 0.70% and represent the following U.S. Sectors:
