In this, Investment Executive's (IE) second annual ETF Guide for financial advisors, we discuss some major trends in products and strategies in the exchange-traded fund (ETF) marketplace. The growing importance of smart-beta ETFs, the emergence of low- volatility ETFs and the impact of regulatory change on advisors' practices are among the topics we tackle. And the results of a survey of readers of IE and our Montreal-based sister publication, Finance et Investissement, who use ETFs are not to be missed; a central finding is that although the ETF industry's assets under management continue to grow at a very healthy pace, many advisors are just beginning to embrace these products.
