Lévis, Que.-based Desjardins Group announced on Tuesday that the State Farm Canadian business that Desjardins acquired in 2015 will be rebranded as Desjardins Insurance.

Desjardins Group completed the purchase of State Farm Canada’s property and casualty and life insurance operations, as well as its mutual fund, loan and living benefits companies, in January 2015.

Those business units will gradually be rebranded as Desjardins Insurance, beginning in May 2018. The rebranding will be completed by the end of 2019.

“This is an exciting step in the evolution of Desjardins,” saus Guy Cormier, president and CEO of Desjardins Group, in a statement, adding that he expects the move will help strengthen the Desjardins brand across Canada.

State Farm clients in Canada will continue to be served by their current advisors, who will transition to the Desjardins Insurance brand under the new Desjardins agent network.
