Abe Sheikh has joined Toronto-based Cougar Global Investments Ltd. as head of research, the firm announced on Wednesday.

Sheikh will provide enhanced analytics and additional quantitative-research capabilities as part of the Cougar Global investment team.

Abe will be instrumental in Cougar Global’s growth,” Breech added.

Cougar is a globally oriented macro ETF strategist and portfolio manager that provides its investment services to advisors, advisory platforms, high-net-worth individuals, families, foundations, trusts and institutions in Canada and the United States.

Sheikh previously worked for 11 years as vice president of capital-markets research and portfolio management as well as director of quantitative research at J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM). Prior to joining JPMAM, he was an analyst for four years at Watson Wyatt Worldwide.

Sheikh earned a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a master’s in computational finance from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
