Toronto-based Bank of Montreal is introducing BMO skill, a voice enabled service for banking-related information accessible via devices with Alexa, an intelligent personal assistant developed by Seattle-based Amazon.com Inc.

BMO skill will provide customers with common banking information, such as nearby ATM locations, up-to-date foreign exchange rates and information on BMO products and digital channels.

The new feature is by powered by Alexa’s voice service accessible on devices such as Amazon Echo, Echo Plus and Echo Dot. (Amazon announced the introduction of these devices to the Canadian market on Wednesday.) BMO skill can be enabled through Alexa by saying, “Alexa, enable BMO skill,” or through the Alexa app store.

“This offering allows us to help our customers more intuitively than ever before from the comfort of their homes, and is the latest example of how BMO is investing in the future of banking to deliver on then evolving wants and needs of our customers,” says Camera Fowler, president of North American personal and business banking with BMO, in a statement. “BMO skill will help customers evolve their financial lives to fit more seamlessly into their everyday lives through the technologies they are already using.”
