Paul Noble, vice president and deputy general counsel at BMO Capital Markets, is being recognized for his service to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally (LGBTQA) community.

Noble was named the winner of the 2014 Deloitte Leaders To Be Proud Of Professional Leadership Award, the bank said Monday. The award will be presented at the Out On Bay Street’s awards ceremony on September 11 at the Art Gallery of Ontario, in Toronto.

The selection committee noted that Noble “has shown exceptional ability in terms of leadership, business excellence and vision and noted that he is publicly recognized as a role model for the LGBTQA community.”

According to the bank, Noble is a member of BMO’s Diversity Renewal Council, a member of the bank’s LGBT affinity group in Canada, and was formerly on the executive advisory council for BMO’s LGBT affinity group in the U.S. He is also a participant in Out on Bay Street and BMO career diversity workshops and is a patron of the Casey House Foundation capital campaign.

“Paul is an exemplar of the qualities we look for in a leader at BMO Financial Group.” said Simon Fish, general counsel and executive diversity champion at BMO, who nominated Noble for the award.

“He is a highly skilled lawyer who has successfully managed large, complex lines of business and teams in Canada and internationally. He encourages an open and inclusive culture that develops talent and brings out the best in the people who work for him. He actively champions diversity in the bank and community and inspires other professionals to embrace diversity while pursuing their goals,” Fish added.
